Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) has listed 20 Texas priorities he pushed for the Water Resources Development Act of 2020.

The Brazos River and Chocolate Bayou areas are among the places that are considered as priorities. The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) is needed to support normal everyday American life. Nearly 80% of bartered goods that Americans rely on are carried through our Nation’s port of entries, harbors, and waterways.

Cornyn issued a statement regarding the effort. He says that the effort will involve studying flood risks and reinforcing present levees.

“Texans will be safer from future storms with the authorization of these projects,” Cornyn said. “From studying flood risk to fortifying levees to improving ship channels, all Texans stand to benefit from the high priority infrastructure projects included in this bill.”

Cornyn also noted the state passed the Jefferson County ecosystem restoration project.

Additionally, the state passed a new credible study for the Port Arthur and Orange County flood risk management plan. The projects involve the construction and repairs to interior drainage systems.
